Your iPhone videos. Your CarPlay premiere.
To play your iPhone videos on a compatible CarPlay display, open Add in Dashow, choose Photos or Files, and import the video. Check the saved copy on iPhone, then select the car display from the player while parked. For a one-off view of permitted content in another app, use Cast to Car screen sharing instead.

Once parked, select your compatible car display and share the picture.
Start with a story that is already yours.
Personal videos make a great first watch because you know what should appear. Choose a familiar travel clip, a family moment, or a film you made. In Dashow, open Add and choose Photos for a video from your photo library, or Files for a video kept as a file.
Wait for the import to complete and open the resulting library item. Dashow keeps a managed copy for playback. If the original is still being fetched from cloud storage on iPhone, let it become available before assuming it is ready for a trip.
Use a short clip to make setup easy to check.
Play the video on iPhone, listen to the sound, and seek to a part you recognize. A short clip with speech and visible movement makes the result easy to judge. You are checking the actual media, rather than relying on a thumbnail or file extension.
Then, with the car parked, connect your iPhone and choose the compatible display in Dashow’s player. Look for that same scene and check sound and pause. This creates a useful reference you can return to later when trying a server movie or another app.
Give a shared memory a shared screen.
A personal clip is particularly good for the moments when someone else is already in the car with you. Show the view from the trip you were discussing, replay a family milestone, or bring together a few videos you want to revisit at the campsite.
Keep the video’s natural shape. A landscape clip may suit the display well; a portrait clip can leave space at the sides. Preserving the whole frame keeps the people and details you recorded visible, instead of cropping the memory to match the dashboard.
Wide videos can fill more of your car display. Vertical clips keep their original proportions, with space at the sides.

Choose a few favorites rather than importing every video at once. Check their names and playback so the right clip is easy to find during a short stop. Imported copies can be useful at places with poor reception because the movie itself is already stored on the phone.
When you want space back, use Storage to inspect and remove Dashow’s managed copies. Removing a copy from Dashow is different from deleting the original video in Photos or its source folder. Keep your originals in the place you normally use for them.
