Save a movie, not just a place in your library.

It is easy to mistake a title on a screen for a video on the phone. A connected server can show artwork and episode information while the movie itself remains at home. A bookmarked video link still needs its source. A completed local copy is what makes your film ready when reception disappears.

For a video in Files or Photos, use Dashow’s Add menu and import it. Dashow keeps a managed copy for playback. If the original item is still downloading from its storage provider, let that finish before relying on the import.

Take a few episodes from your media server.

Connect Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby, open a supported movie or episode, and choose Download. The progress indicator shows the transfer while the saved video is being created. Eligible Jellyfin and Emby seasons can also be prepared through Download Season; a small selection is an easier first trip than the whole collection.

Build a watchlist for the stops you expect: one short episode, one longer film and a favorite to share. In Downloads, make sure each selected copy is complete. Open the one you plan to watch and check the beginning, a later scene and its audio. The download guide covers the settings for preparing the next batch.

Give your offline watchlist a proper check.

Open the saved title from Downloads or the local library, rather than assuming a server page means the transfer is finished. Play a scene near the beginning and seek farther into the video. Check the dialogue, any chosen audio track, and the subtitles you expect to use.

To check independence from your home server, test the saved copy before connecting to the car and without relying on that server connection. Then restore the connection your car requires and check the actual display. Disabling every radio can also disable a wireless receiver, so treat local media and display connectivity as separate checks.

Pack a watchlist that fits the trip.

A short episode, a longer film, and a personal favorite give you options for different stops. Name or choose them before leaving so a break does not become a search session. Continue Watching helps you resume what you started, including a saved server title being played from its local copy.

Open Storage to see the space used by imported videos and downloads. Remove finished copies when you want room for something new. Removing Dashow’s managed copy does not turn a remote stream into a download or delete the original film from your NAS.

When a supposedly offline video will not play.

Check whether the download completed, whether you opened the saved copy, and whether that copy plays directly on iPhone. If phone playback works and the display does not, return to the car connection check. If phone playback fails too, retry the download on a good connection or test the source file before the next trip.
