Skip Intro appears on iPhone and CarPlay when the server has already marked the stretch. Jellyfin supplies media segments, commonly from a plugin such as Intro Skipper, and a Plex Pass server supplies intro, credits and advertisement markers. Dashow shows the pill while the position sits inside a marked stretch, whether or not the controls are up.

Jellyfin writes media segments through a plugin such as Intro Skipper; Plex writes markers from its library analysis.

Add the server
Open Add, choose Jellyfin or Plex, and sign in to the server holding the series.

Open an analysed episode
Play an episode from a library the server has already analysed.

The pill sits over the picture while the position stays inside the marked stretch.
The server marks the stretch. The client draws the button.
A media server analyses an episode and records where the intro, the recap and the closing credits sit. The app on the phone reads those marks and draws a control over the picture at the right second. A server that never analysed a library sends nothing. No client can invent them.
That split decides where to spend the evening. Marks that exist reach every client that reads them, at the same second in each one. Check the server’s own web interface once. If the stretch is unmarked there, the library is the thing to analyse.
Skip Intro appears while the position sits inside a marked stretch.
In Dashow a Skip Intro pill appears while the playback position sits inside a stretch the server has marked. The same happens over a recap and over the closing roll, where the pill reads Skip Recap or Skip Credits. It shows whether or not the controls are up.
One tap jumps to the end of the marked stretch and playback carries on. No switch to find. The pill is drawn from what the server sent with the episode, which is why it turns up on one series in a library and stays away on another sitting next to it.
Where a Jellyfin or a Plex server gets the marks.
Jellyfin calls these stretches media segments, and a Jellyfin server produces them through a plugin. Intro Skipper is the usual one. Plugins install from the plugin catalog in the server’s own settings, and the analysis then runs over a library season by season. That setup is server work, and Jellyfin documents it.
A Plex Pass server produces intro, credits and advertisement markers from its own analysis. Plex ignores an intro shorter than 20 seconds, and it leaves an intro that ends more than halfway into an episode unmarked. Those markers come from that tier. Once the analysis has run, the marks travel with the episode.
Next Episode takes over where the credit roll starts.
A Next Episode pill appears over the credits of an episode that has the next one queued, and it plays that episode outright. Both pills share one stretch. Skip Credits moves the position past the roll of the episode you are on; Next Episode starts the following one.
A finished server episode offers the next one across seasons, so the last episode of season one hands over to the first of season two with no trip back to the series page. That offer reaches the phone and the car’s Next button.
A downloaded episode skips the same way with no network.
Download a Jellyfin, Emby or Plex episode and it is kept whole on the device. The marks the server sent are kept beside the copy. Nothing is fetched at play time. The kept episode shows Skip Intro on a plane and at a campsite exactly as it does at home, and a season page offers Download Season for a whole run.
Settings holds Download over Cellular, Download Next Episode and Remove Finished Downloads, all off by default. Turn Download Next Episode on and the following episode waits with its own marks beside it. A kept video reports start, progress and stop to its server once that server is reachable again.
The same server work fills the scrub bar.
Jellyfin’s ready-made trickplay stills appear at once when you scrub any stream, whichever engine is playing it, and they are kept on disk beside the artwork. Where the server made none, frames are read from the stream itself. The bar shows frames, not guesses.
When no skip button shows anywhere, read the episode rather than the app. A series added after the last analysis run carries no marks until the server runs the analysis again. Signing a server in, and keeping a series moving from stop to stop, are separate tasks with their own guides below.
